The focus of my graduate collection of knitted textiles is the exploration of colour. The catalyst of this work was my interest in the natural environment, primarily investigating the beach, forest and rural locations gathering visual research interrogating textures, colours and forms. This research was underpinned by exploring Renaissance paintings whose subject matter reflected on a romantic gaze at natural environment. The creation of complex thread-wraps and digital compositions from this research where every colour, saturation, hue and proportion is considered dovetailed with complex compositions testing out exhaustive colour combinations were the foundation of my knitted fabric experiments. The final collection of knitted samples is an exercise in colour theory where exhaustive blending yarns and threads results in a timeless range of fabrics for a fashion context.
